The Mersault Investigation

The Mersault Investigation is Kamel Daoud's retelling of Camus's The Stranger, told from the perspective of the brother of the murdered Arab (rather than the murderer himself). But this isn't merely a book with a political agenda; it is a legitimately excellent novel of its own that considers Camus, literature, Algerian history and colonialism more broadly. Recommended.
