The Pequod Review:

With Jeff Guinn's Manson, we finally have a biography that cuts through the myths and embellishments — many of them created by Manson himself — that were so carelessly assumed to be true by Vincent Bugliosi and others. Guinn's book digs deep into Manson’s background before the murders, and by placing him in the context of the 1960s (which makes his motivations much clearer) it also doubles as a first-rate cultural history of 1960s California.
