The Magnificent Ambersons is one of Booth Tarkington’s finest works, a novel detailing the declining post-Civil War fortunes of a wealthy Indianapolis family. The nostalgic narrative is quite strong, however Tarkington’s writing is a bit stiff. Winner of the 1919 Pulitzer Prize.
