Over time, Ellery Queen became a multi-media institution, growing well beyond the initial mystery novels written by Manfred Lee and Federic Dannay. In later years, ghostwriters were brought in to continue the core series. Losers, Weepers, written in 1966 by Richard Deming, is the story of a cash-strapped mid-level office worker who buys a briefcase only to realize it contains $100,000 in stolen money.
