Lincoln in the Bardo

The Pequod Review:
Lincoln in the Bardo is George Saunders’s first full-length novel, one that takes place after the death of Abraham Lincoln's son William (i.e., the period between his death and rebirth, or the bardo). The book is mediocre by Saunders's high standards; I suspect the glowing reviews and Booker Prize award were an overcompensation for the lack of appreciation his earlier books received.
