Benedict Anderson's A Life Beyond Boundaries is an intellectual memoir in the best sense of the term. Anderson (1936-2015) was most famous for his studies on nationalism (see Imagined Communities), but he also did groundbreaking work on Southeast Asian history and especially the crimes of the Suharto government. In this book, he focuses on how his experiences and influences shaped his intellectual development.
