Lament for a Maker

Lament for a Maker is the third book is Michael Innes's Inspector Appleby series, and involves the death of a laird at a remote Scottish castle. The plotting and structure are ingenious, as Innes uses five narrators to gradually fill in details of the story, but his prose is needlessly verbose.
