The Killer Inside Me

The Pequod Review:
The Killer Inside Me isn't quite the masterpiece many have claimed, but it is nonetheless a very good and very hard-boiled noir. Lou Ford is an intelligent, successful, and well-respected deputy sheriff in a small West Texas town. But under the facade, he is a psychopath (with what he calls The Sickness), capable of the most violent and brutal crimes. The Sickness is a bit of a lazy plot device, but as the crimes pile up the story builds to an almost Shakespearean tragedy.
