Interesting Times: A Twentieth-Century Life

Whatever you think of Eric Hobsbawm’s politics, throughout his career he was a vital and energetic historian, even at age 85 when he wrote his memoir Interesting Times. Some of the best parts of the book come early, especially his early life through college; unfortunately, some of the later sections are colored by an uncomfortable defensiveness toward his prior political affiliations.
