The Pequod Review:

Harold Bloom's How to Read and Why is an odd (and oddly organized) mix of literary theory, biography, reading advice, and book recommendations. And as with his other books, Bloom is too focused on the obvious classics of Western literature. Still, he has read widely, has strong opinions, and passionately and intelligently advocates for books that he loves.
