The Pequod Review:

A History of Reading, Alberto Manguel's third full-length book, is a digressive and witty set of essays on reading — how reading has been taught, how people read in public and in private, how a book is transformed through the act of reading, how written communication differs from oral communication, and the relationship between language and the brain. Enjoyable but cursory.
