A Head Full of Ghosts

The Pequod Review:
Paul Tremblay's fourth horror novel, A Head Full of Ghosts, involves a suburban New England family (the Barretts) whose lives are torn apart when their 14-year-old daughter (Marjorie) begins to show signs of schizophrenia. The book is well-written and it has real suspense as the causes of Marjorie's illness are slowly revealed through flashbacks (many of which are not fully reliable). However, the characters are not all that strong and there are some structural features of the story that don't quite work (e.g., large parts of it are told through tiresome blog posts).
