Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage

The Pequod Review:
Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage is an excellent collection of nine short stories, mostly involving women and focused on themes of marriage, adultery, mental illness, aging, and broken trust. I especially liked “Comfort” and the love story “The Bear Came Over the Mountain,” where Munro carefully details the characters’ shifting emotions over the course of an affair, with a realism uncommon to most love stories.
