The Grifters

The Grifters is a bleak and incestous family drama about a con artist, his mother, and his girlfriend. Once again, Jim Thompson effectively creates a world of cynicism and amorality that is all its own. The book was adapted by Donald Westlake for the excellent 1990 Stephen Frears film, the best Thompson film to date.
