The Pequod Review:

M. Karagatsis was a pseudonym used by the famous Greek journalist and playwright Dimitrios Rodopoulos (1908-1960), and The Great Chimera is an old-fashioned romance set on the Aegean islands. The story is a little slow but Karagatsis is a powerfully descriptive writer and the narrative has some cultural depth as it uses the heroine's French origins to explore Greece's uncertain position between the East and West.
