The Glass Key

The Pequod Review:
Dashiell Hammett's The Glass Key is an intelligent fictional profile of big-city political corruption, involving the murder of a senator’s son during his reelection campaign and the subsequent investigation by private detective Ned Beaumont. The book’s plot has some loose ends, but Hammett creates a persuasive atmosphere of political cynicism, as well as first-rate characters, none of whom are unambiguous good guys.
