The Pequod Review:

The constant subtext of Jeannette Walls’s memoir The Glass Castle is intergenerational mobility; her parents were materially poor but rich in other ways (intellectually, culturally and artistically). Given Walls's own success as an author and journalist, as well as the sympathy and love she still has for her parents, perhaps there is an important lesson here.
