Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus

The Pequod Review:
Obviously Frankenstein is one of the most famous Gothic horror novels ever published, and in some ways it is a rich allegory about what it means to be human. However, Mary Shelley’s novel is also poorly written and full of nonsensical plot developments (even going so far as a chase sequence in the Arctic). And the only well-developed character is the assembled one, who unlike his human counterparts turns out to have real honor and wisdom.
