The Pequod Review:

Perry Mehrling’s book Fischer Black and the Revolutionary Idea of Finance is not just an excellent history of Black — the creator of the eponymous Black-Scholes options formula and the CAPM risk pricing model — but of the entire field of quantitative finance from the 1960s to the 1990s. And Black himself is revealed to be a more intelligent and complex thinker than partisans on either side of the EMH debate usually portray him.
