First Blood

First Blood has a bit more depth than you might expect given its later adaptation into the Rambo film franchise, as a scarred Vietnam War veteran (David Morrell) finds himself in the crosshairs of local police in a small Kentucky town. There is an underlying empathy to Morrell's troubled past; his PTSD at least partially explains some quite brutal acts of violence.
