The Pequod Review:

The Evenings is a novel of the mundane and the quotidian (as well as the interior), as it describes the nightly activities of an aimless and disaffected young man named Frits van Egters. While these evenings are uneventful and rarely satisfying, the book effectively recounts Frits’s thoughts and frustrations, and builds to a sharp character study.
