The Essential Smart Football

Chris B. Brown is an unusually intelligent football analyst, whose detailed insights into play-calling and advanced statistics have appeared online at Grantland and his blog Smart Football. His first book, The Essential Smart Football, details a variety of offensive and defensive football schemes, including Urban Meyer’s spread offense, the West Coast Offense, and Nick Saban’s defensive tactics, among others. Unfortunately, the printed book format doesn’t work to describe football plays; he really needs to use a more interactive format that can show the movement of each player, ideally some kind video tutorial. However, those with an in-depth football knowledge (i.e., those who don’t need such props) will likely find the book useful.
