The Pequod Review:

Originally published in 1970 under the pen name John Lange, Michael Crichton's Drug of Choice is a conspiracy thriller that features many of Crichton's standard plot elements — patients exhibiting strange symptoms, a secret medical research lab in the Caribbean, and a nefarious corporate entity that appears to be behind it all. Crichton wrote the book while he was finishing med school, and while it's a short and fun thriller, it is inferior in almost every way to his later books.
