The Distance

The Pequod Review:
Helen Giltrow's first novel The Distance is a smart and intricate thriller about a sophisticated London socialite (Karla) who has a side occupation as an identity-concealing fixer. The story has a glossy predictability to it, but Karla is an interesting character (I was reminded at times of Lisbeth Salander) and the unique setting inside an experimental prison colony makes it superior to most contemporary thrillers.
