Dice: Deception, Fate, and Rotten Luck

Dice is a short and playful book about the forms and uses of dice across history. The best sections focus on cellulose nitrate dice (“the industry standard until the middle of the twentieth century... they typically remain stable for decades. Then, in a flash, they can dramatically decompose”). Several beautiful pictures of Ricky Jay’s own decomposed dice collection appear in the book.
