The Pequod Review:

A Day in Ostrobothnia, the eleventh book by the prolific Finnish author Antti Tuuri, is a novel that takes place on a single summer day on the western coast of Finland. The story centers on an extended family that has gathered in the rural province following the death of their grandfather. The book effectively combines the personal memories of the family members with the violent political history of the region, and it is told in a spare and laconic style. However, Tuuri's prose is awkward and clunky, possibly the result of a poor translation.
