Published in 1971, Jacque Barzun's A Catalogue of Crime is a comprehensive reference guide to mystery/crime novels. While the book is poorly organized and full of numerous errors and omissions, Barzun’s reviews are original and often highly insightful. They also include several works well-known in 1971 but forgotten today. Recommended for serious mystery and crime fans.
