Andre Schiffrin was the head of Pantheon Books and founder (in 1992) of The New Press, which should have positioned him to write a better analysis of the book industry than The Business of Books. Instead, it is a simplistic and polemical screed; and Schiffrin comes across as a grumpy old man unhappy with change of any kind.
