The Pequod Review:

Baba Yaga Laid an Egg is structured as a series of three interconnected stories, all loosely based on the famous Russian Baba Yaga myth (involving an old hag who eats children). The book starts slow, but the last two-thirds is superb — not just a retelling of the old myth, but a funny and inventive story about female aging, as well as a meta-commentary on folklore and literary analysis.
