The Pequod Review:

Another Time, Another Life is a superb detective novel that begins with a real life event: the Stockholm hostage crisis of 1975, in which six people held the entire staff of the Stockholm West German embassy captive, demanding the release of Baader-Meinhof prisoners. The bulk of Persson’s book picks up in 1999, 24 years later, when an unsolved murder from 1989 involves one of the Stockholm hostage-takers. The ensuing police investigation uncovers extensive political corruption. Think James Ellroy but at a more congenial volume level.
